food is our first and best medicine

Our sister brand, Food of Origin continues our mission to elevate everyday wellness and nutrition by returning to the origins of medicine - plants.

A range of broth enhancers, teas, seasonings and a selection of external remedies are handcrafted using premium functional herbals and Eastern wisdom.

You will find a selection of products to help with a range of wellness areas: post partum, women’s health, menopause, fertility, gut-health, immunity and general wellbeing.

Minimising environmental impact, our packaging features home compostable sleeves and ecostar paper stock so that everything comes from nature, and returns to nature.

Crafted in Noosa by a qualified practitioner and food lover.

Meet your plant helpers…

  • Our broth enhancers are souper easy to cook. Just add the herbs to your favourite stock recipe, or visit the Learn page for our tried and tested version. We’ve designed the Souper Chargers to be extremely beneficial from an Eastern medicine perspective to promote a healthful plant-based diet and can be readily used in place of beef or chicken.

You can use the stock as a tonic on it’s own, or as a base for noodles, risotto, soups, or our favourite - congee!

  • Our custom blended Umami Shake was specifically designed as a congee topper. But we find it so more-ish that we like to sprinkle it on everything from eggs, vegetables, salads, broths, rice, savoury pasty filling, ramen or over tacos.

Use in place of salt or parmesan to get a healthful and low-sodium flavour lift like you’ve never known before.

  • Using food based doses, our products have a naturally gentler effect than when we use the herbals for medicinal purposes. This makes them more suitable for general use and there’s no limit as to how often you can use our products beyond normal consumption.

A daily dose will see you getting more health benefits from your diet then ever before!

  • Our Yin care sitz bath is a specialised blend of herbals to reduce vaginal discomfort including discharge, itching, redness and swelling and the the symptoms of thrush or BV.

The herbal wash can be splashed on affected area and used as a steam.

Do not use on open sores. If symptoms persist please contact our mother-clinic Indigo Chinese Medicine. Contact details in tab above.

Meridians

These are pathways through which Qi flows. They form a network of interconnected channels along which specific acupuncture points are located that correspond to various organs, systems, and functions in the body.

Jing

Jing is a fundamental concept in Chinese medicine that refers to our ‘trust fund’ of energy inherited from our parents. It is stored between the kidneys, and responsible for growth, development, reproduction, and overall vitality. It is a precious substance that can only be depleted, never supplemented. We reduce over taxation of this deep constitutional energy by having adequate post-natal Qi derived from the food we eat and oxygenation.

Pao Zhi

A herbal processing technique that involves various methods of preparing herbs to enhance their therapeutic properties, eg. roasting, steaming, fermenting. It is used to modify and optimise properties of herbs for specific therapeutic action.

Yin and Yang

Stemming from Daoism, Yin Yang is all about the dualistic nature of the universe, including the human body and health. Yin represents the feminine, passive, and dark aspects, while Yang represents the masculine, active, and bright aspects. They are complementary and interdependent, and each contains a small seed of the other. Their balance is essential for health and well-being.

Qi

Qi is a fundamental concept often referred to as "vital energy" or "life force", and refers to the flow of energy within the body and its organs. It is responsible for maintaining health and vitality, and the state of Qi is influenced by various factors such as lifestyle, diet, emotions, and the environment.

Five Elements

Another fundamental concept that describes the dynamic relationship between five elements, namely Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water, and their corresponding organs, seasons, emotions, colours, and characteristics. These elements are believed to be interconnected and influence each other's balance and harmony, and are used to understand the human body, nature, and the universe.
